It is also close to the world famous Myan ruins. Located on the northeast tip of the Yucatán Peninsula and is in the state of Quintana Roo. Cancun has two main unique areas to discover. The Hotel Zone, Zona Hotelera, a Long strip along the beach with resorts, clubs, restaurants, and beaches. You’ll also want to take in the downtown, El Centro, which has a more local vibe, with cheaper food, markets, and everyday life.

Is It Hard Getting Around?
Getting around town or the local area can be done by taxi. Prices vary and it is best to ask the price before getting into the taxi. You can also utilize the bus system. A loittle cheaper than the taxi and safe for hotel zone travel. There is also the option of renting a car can be useful for day trips to Tulum, the cenotes or other areas.
When’s The Best Time to Visit?
From December to April you will find the best weather. Most popular for winter vacationers. Of course from May to August you will find it hotter and more humid. If you are looking for the cheapest prices then consider coming in September or October. Just FYI it is rainier and it is hurricane season.
